Sold-out Attendance Projected for Celebration of Denver Public Schools

DENVER, APRIL 7, 2011The Denver Public Schools (DPS) Foundation will host its annual Achieve Gala on Tuesday, April 12 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. Now in its ninth year, the event is expecting nearly 1,200 business and community supporters in attendance.

The Achieve Gala, presented by UMB, is both a celebration of Denver Public Schools and a fundraiser to support Denver’s students, teachers, and classrooms.

“The record attendance clearly demonstrates how important public education is to our community,” said DPS Foundation president and CEO Kristin Heath Colon. “The DPS Foundation exists to match community support and investment with the needs of our students and schools. We’re proud to partner with Denver Public Schools and to celebrate the progress of our schools with this special evening.”

The program features DPS student performance groups, remarks from soon-to-be graduates, and an opportunity to hear from school, city, and state leaders about education in Colorado.

The 2011 event, chaired by Cille and Ron Williams, will feature the Archuleta Elementary School Choir, Denver School of the Arts Department of Dance & Movement, Manual High School Choir, and the Montbello High School Drum Line.
