About us

The Denver Public Schools (DPS) Foundation was established in 1992 in recognition of the fact that public funds alone cannot adequately support the ambitious efforts to advance student achievement in Denver Public Schools.

The DPS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board of directors and supported by private foundations, corporations, parents, alumni, DPS employees and other members of the community. The DPS Foundation directed nearly $10 million to Denver Public Schools for priority programs and critical needs last year alone. Our current efforts and resources are focused on the following:

  • Driving student success and closing achievement gaps.
  • Extending the school day with valuable hours of learning and enrichment.
  • Supporting healthy students and exceptional learning environments.
  • Providing adequate resources for teachers and classrooms.
  • Fostering outstanding leadership in our schools.

Our mission

In partnership with Denver Public Schools, we raise and manage funds, make strategic program investments, and serve as community leaders so that all students have the opportunity to succeed.

Our vision

In Denver Public Schools, outstanding educational achievements are the norm and all children have hope of a great future.

Our funding priorities are determined by our board of directors in conjunction with district leadership. We fund programs that further Denver Public Schools’ strategic reform efforts, as outlined in The Denver Plan.
